Born in Asele, Lapland, Norell went on to become one of Swedens leading furniture designers. He started his own workshop in Stockholm in 1954 and later moved to Småland in 1958 where he founded Möbel AB Arne Norell.
His most renowned and appreciated piece is the easy chair "Ari", designed in 1966 and which in 1973 was posthumously awarded "Showpiece of the year" by British Furniture Manufacturers.
Arne Norell furniture demonstrated his commitment to modernist ideals.
Characteristically all pieces combine elegant simplicity and integrity with a blend of multiple materials, often metal, turned wood and high quality leather.
Many of the models Norell designed, came into production after his death and are manufactured by the same company, now under the name Norell Möbel AB.
The collection remains as modern, classic and timeless today as it was when designed almost 60 years ago.
We like the chairs because they are made with quality leather, often Buffalo hide. This gives great strength and the ability to last, allowing a gorgeous patina to form.
The chairs have great ergonomics and a relaxed lounging feel.
