Hans Sandgren Jakobsen was born on the 7th of August 1963.
He started his carrier as an apprentice making cabinet at Inventarsnedkeriet, Aarhus in Denmark.
After finishing his apprenticeship in 1986, he was employed as a cabinet-maker at Rud. Rasmussens Snedkerier in Copenhagen, Denmark, for a short
time before starting at the Danish Design School in Copenhagen.
During his studies, he was awarded a scholarship for studies abroad, which he used for studying the Shakers and their way of making furniture in the US, and to work as a volunteer for the Japanese design company COBO Design.
In 1991 Mr. Jakobsen and three textile workers formed the design group ‘Spring’, which works as a source of inspiration for all of them.
Throughout the years, Mr. Jakobsen has received several prizes and scholarships for his passionate work, and his works are e.g. represented at The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Danish Design Museum in Copenhagen.
