Gordon Russell Helix
The double helix teak and Indian laurel sideboard was designed by Gordon Russell for the 1951 Festival of Britain. The sideboard carries
his signature attention to detail and impeccable construction standards. An intricate double helix motif is carved into the birch doors
and a linear grain is showcased across the top and sides of the piece.
This particular example is 2.5 times the size of the original design, we assume it may have been a bespoke piece because of it's larger size and having the double helix motif across the rear of the sideboard too. This would allow the piece to work as a room divider or counter, in a larger space. This is a stunning and unique piece of design history.
